Bantam Hurricanes

Jr. Hurricanes Making Changes
Hurricanes Philosophy

The Space Coast Hurricanes youth program strives each and every week to give each child an opportunity to develop their individual skills while playing at a higher level of hockey.  The Hurricanes understand that each player needs are different and we will continue to find ways to meet those needs.  We also understand that there are several options when it comes to playing travel hockey in Central Florida and we wish that you will continue to allow the Hurricane Staff the opportunity to work with your child.
The Space Coast Hurricanes geographic area makes it very challenging to build straight AA birth year teams at each level. As we move forward, the Jr. Hurricanes Youth Travel Teams will strive to field teams at the Single A level that plays in the FAHL League.  We will strive to field teams at the following levels: Mites, Squirt, Peewee, Bantam and U16.
We have many players that are developing their individual skills at a faster pace then others and we acknowledge this.  We are not looking to hold these players back from playing at a higher level.  For those players that are interested in trying out for a higher level of hockey with another program, the Jr. Hurricanes will support you and wish you the very best.  We will ask that if you tryout at another oganzation and don't make the AA program that you return to the Hurricanes and allow the Hurricane staff to continue to develop your child
With the move towards playing at the Single A level, we feel that we will be able to offer more players an opportunity to play and develop their hockey skills. With more players, we will be able to field teams at each level for years to come.  We want to build a program for those families that are looking for a fun enviroment to grow in.
Upcoming Changes with Hurricanes Travel Hockey
We will also have a few other changes for the upcoming 2013-14 season.  The Space Coast Hurricanes will be run independently from the Space Coast Iceplex. The Space Coast Iceplex is 100% behind the Hurricanes travel program and will do everything they can to support the program, but the Space Coast Iceplex wants to focus their attention on their house programs:  Youth Hockey Programs, Youth PNC Solar Bears Rec Program, Intro to Hockey, Minimites, Adult Hockey Program, LTS and Figure Skating Program.  The Brevard Amateur Ice Hockey Association will be in charge of the Hurricanes Travel Hockey Program.  More information regarding this exciting change will be available soon.
