Space Coast Open Championship
The Space Coast Open Championships will be held at the Space Coast Iceplex on August 18th and 19th!
This is a great opportunity for your skater to compete in their home environment and get a taste for what competition is about. All competitors will receive a Goodie Bag full of fun items! If your skater is interested in competing, please speak with your Skate Academy Instructor, Private Instructor, or Brielle Francis for more information.

Try Skating For FREE!
Join us Saturday mornings for our FREE Try It Skating Class 11:30am-12:00pm! We provide the skates and instructors. Be sure to arrive early as we take the first 20 participants that check in. Dress warm and comfortable. If you have any questions please contact Brielle Francis at brielle@spacecoasticeplex.com

Therapeutic Skating Team
The Space Coast Hurricanes Therapeutic Skating Team will provide one-on-one coaching to create an atmosphere that fosters creativity, learning, and fun. Practice will start the first Thursday in September.

Figure Skating Club Banquet
The 2nd Annual Space Coast Iceplex Figure Skating Club Banquet was held on July 29th at Duran Country Club. It was well attended by 90 skaters, coaches, and family members and a great opportunity for everyone to relax and socialize with friends.
This meeting also served as the annual meeting of the Club during which the election of the Board of Directors took place. The following directors were re-elected to a two year term: Lisa Cole, Sharon Gearin, Michelle Norcross, Regina Poole, and Melissa Powers. Newly elected directors include Emilee Luther and Jennifer Wiant. Congratulations to all of the directors!
For the first this year, awards were given to the skaters in the following categories: Athlete of the Year, Outstanding Achievement, Most Improved (Juvenile though Senior), Most Improved (No Test through Pre-Juvenile), Perseverance, Artistic Expression, and Leadership/Sportsmanship. The following skaters received the awards:
Athlete of the Year: Saskia Oudejans
Outstanding Achievement: Saskia Oudejans
Most Improved (Juvenile through Senior): Jennifer Gearin
Most Improved (No Test through Pre-Juvenile): Serena Kemble
Perseverance: Ashley Campbell
Artistic Expression: Brooke Thomas
Leadership/Sportsmanship: Maddie Warren, Tonya George (adults)
Recognition was also given to skaters who achieved the following:
- Gold level test
- Landed axel
- Landed double jump
- Landed double axel
- Landed triple
- First ever competition
Volunteer awards, both serious and fun, and volunteer recognitions were also given.
The Board wants to thank all of the members, both skaters and family, for their support of the sport of skating and we look forward to another great year!
Mini – Mite Hockey
When: Saturdays
Time: 3:15 pm – 4:15 pm
Half Ice practice each day with half ice scrimmage games.
Requirements:
- Must be enrolled in either Skating or Hockey Academy
- Full hockey gear and stick
- Ages 9 and under
Payments: $50 a month will be added to your Skating or Hockey Academy dues on the 7th of each month.
Sign up at reception – a class change form will need to be completed to reflect the addition of mini mites.

Practices: Tuesdays at 5:45 pm – 6:45 pm
Games: Typically games will be played on Saturday’s at 3:15pm however select days and times may vary.
Tournaments will be played throughout the season at an additional cost.
No Games/Practices:
- November 24th – 25th – Thanksgiving
- December 22nd – 23rd – Christmas
- December 29th – 30th – New Years
Payment Plan:
- 1st Payment due August 21st – $200
- 2nd Payment due September 25th – $163.40
- 3rd Payment due October 25th – $137.60
- 4th Payment due November 25th – $129
One Payment: $600 due August 22nd or $30 off if paid in full by August 18th.
Reversible Jersey Required – $55 additional cost

Fall 2018 Adult Hockey
Registration is now open for adult hockey. Please see the league descriptions below. If you have not played in our leagues prior to this season contact Jeremy Nolan at jeremy@spacecoasticeplex.com. This is to ensure proper placement in the leagues.
Gold (Intermediate): Is a high level of play. Most players have a minimum of 5 years of experience and many played in their youth. Games are on Friday evenings.
Silver Division: Competitive league with a more relaxed atmosphere. The Silver League is lightly competitive and a whole lot of fun! Games are on Monday evenings.
40+ (All Levels): Must be 40 years of age or older. Ranges in levels of ability, but remains fairly competitive. If you want an opportunity to play with people who have similar views and testosterone levels, this is the league for you! Games are on Tuesday evenings.
Bronze Division (Beginner): We have an exciting league developing here at the Iceplex. That is our new Bronze hockey league. This league has been built for the up and coming hockey player 18 years or older. The first few games have presented us with a unique mix of new players as well as players that have been playing for a few years. This league will help bring players to their next level of potential! Games are on Sunday evenings.
Season runs from September 4th through December 21st (actual days very depending on league).
All players must:
- Be 18 years or older with valid ID
- Must have a valid USA Hockey Player Registration (USAHockeyRegistration.com)
