Power – On Ice Endurance Class

One of the most important physical performance component of skating is cardio conditioning. In order for a skater to complete a technically difficult program lasting between 1.5 to 4 minutes long with a well versed choreography, a high level of both aerobic and anaerobic cardio conditioning must be present. The main purpose of this class is conditioning.

Footwork

The class will focus on a wide variety of intricate creative steps, footwork, positions and movements that could be implemented into their competitive programs.

Advanced Camp Off Ice Classes

Off Ice Skating Discussion

Topics will include: judging & testing scores, nutrition and injury prevention tips, skate maintenance and video analysis

Off Ice Conditioning/Off Ice Jumps/Flexibility/Strength classes

The purpose of off ice conditioning is to increase strength, power, flexibility, quickness, muscular endurance, aerobic endurance and anaerobic endurance – all necessary components coming into play when skater competes, especially at higher levels. Regular off ice training started at a young age will enhance physical performance, prevent skating-related injuries and give a base for faster progress. Sport specific off ice (off ice jump class) will includes drills and exercises specifically designed for development of on ice skills. Core body strength is the key to stability and balance, both crucial for figure skaters. Core Strength class will provide exercises designed to help developing skills of total control of core body (torso) to maximize skaters balance while on the ice. Strong core development is crucial for injury prevention. Flexibility is crucial for any figure skaters in order to be able to execute jumps, spins or simply achieve the beautiful look on the ice.

Fitness class

In this class skaters will learn about the importance of a warm up before skating – what is a warm-up, what happens in a warm-up, effects of the warm-up, how long should a warm up last, injury prevention and more.
